I use a 99 cent unit that lowes carries. It was on blackfriday so maybe it is more now.

It has 4 LED's and it centers them tight. PERFECT for finding stuff, and checking your work. ALSO it is VERY small, and can be thrown in the pocket.

I have the brinkman, i could not detail without it. I have heard the head mounted ones eat through batteries. Have you considered a stand mounted light from Home Depot?

I actually just finished a full correction, polish, and seal while using the Fenix HL21 (big fan of Fenix btw). I found it particularly useful for inspecting results on the fly on a black vehicle and also helpful in maintaining super thin product application. Without decent lighting, especially on side panels, the inability to see the product usually leads to excessive application. Using the Fenix, I was able to see even the slightest film left behind the DA and knew the product was going on.

The only drawback was that I found myself primarily using the highest lumen setting with a bit of time using the middle one. I had to change batteries three times, but being a single AA, it really wasn't too bad.

I have the Fenix had strap. A very useful item. In high power mode, batteries do not last but 3 hrs or so so I use rechargeable.
