Where to park your car, sun or under a tree ?
I know Intense direct sunlight is bad for paint. Tree sap is bad for paint.
If you had the choice of parking your in direct sunlight or a Maple tree under the shade, which would be preferrable for protecting your paint and keeping a nice finish ( assuming you are doing the other things right, like Wasingh, Wax/sealant, Washing bird poop when it hits your car with QD, etc?

I never park under a tree. Bird poop is instant damage. Sun damage takes time. Luckily I have a parking garage with large spaces where I work and a garage at home.

Never park under trees, but especially in the fall! Tree sap is coming out.

-That's for sure...
(unless you're helping load up some for syrup-making)
-And after the Maple leaves have all fallen, no longer providing shade...
Won't you be back in the sun again?
(Maybe it won't be as intense, though.

Given those 2 choices, I'd choose the sun. There can't be too much difference between parking in the sun and driving in the sun, and who doesn't drive in the sun?

I look at it this way;
The sun isn't always out and direct on your paint. Generally you'll have clouds, haze in the sky, weather, and of course the sun eventually goes away for the night.
The tree will always be there hovering over your car. Dropping mammals, leaves, seeds, buds, bugs, sticks, and liquid all over you paint. You've also just given those rats with wings the perfect opportunity to have at your paint, and they know it too. Now mother nature decides to unleash those 60mph gusts, and now part of that tree has collapsed your car. The tree doesn't go away for a period of time either, well, unless the whole darn thing decides to come down.
So yeah, I'll take my chances in the sun.

My dad hates when I park under the sun.
He likes it under a mango tree.
So what's the result? Patches of tree sap etchings that I can't remove
