Paint overspray removal
I'm detailing a white work van right now and there is brown overspray all over it. I've gotten minor overspray off of cars, but not anything like this. My clay bar is not even touching it.
I asked the guy and he said it has been there since August and it's oil based paint.
Anyone have any tips/tricks? I need to get this off this weekend.

I think the " overspray" you see is rail dust. Use iron x on it then clay.

It's actual overspray. I am a religious Iron X user and I got the majority of the rail dust off. Now there is just brown overspray all over.
Proof!

I don't know if ur going to polish afterward. If so, try some 8000 grit sandpaper. Hope it helps

Re: Paint overspray removal
go to the hardware store and get some turpentine
if its oil base then you need oil base cleaner you may need to sand it a little to get it to opean up then use the turpentine .
You will then need to buff the van. tell this guy you will try but you need to tell him you are going to charge him by the hr.
where is know way to know how long this is going to take. but I can see 1000.00 real fast. so he may not be willing to pay that much.
as he can get a real cheap paint job for that or less. Its just how much there van is worth to him if its nice one then do it but if its a junk work van not so much.

I don't think he cares that much about swirls etc.. just wants to see an improvement.
I bought a whole thing of mineral spirits and it didnt do anything so I used goof off. It worked, slowly but surely with a lot of applications and some elbow grease. Normally I don't like to rub hard on paint, but you kinda have to for this. Also, it's a work truck so he is not going to want it buffed and spend $1,000 dollars
