can't speak to detergents but higher octane will allow your car to run higher compression and more timing thus provide you a bit more power.

Well, they make a bigger profit on the higher octane blends, so they put more detergent in convince you to buy it. But if you don't need the octane, as Klasse Act said, it's a waste of money, really. You can always buy a bottle of Techron if you need it (or you used to be able to).

303 makes a new FI cleaner for DI engines but also works in non-DI engines, great stuff and has now replaces Techron as my every 10K fuel system cleanup, 2 bottles back to back tanks per the directions

If you need fuel system cleaner, BG 44K Fuel System Cleaner is the best I've ever used. I did seafoam on our van a number of years ago, this time I simply ran two cans of BG44k through it and it did the trick to clean out the injectors and got my MPG's back up too. No more sticky injectors at all.
