Re: The Post a Picture of Your Ride as it Sits Thread
I'm asking about the MS3 stuff because I have 2 buddys who bought their cars brand new (08 and 10) and has zero problems with the turbo. The 08 was modified and not really babied either, that car was really, really fast too! The 10 had mods as well and was also driven but has a lot of freeway miles on it and in both cases the cars had their oil changed every 5k religiously.

Did the stock ones have it's seals give out? I replaced the seals on mine prior to them giving out. With a tune she laid down 290hp/270tq to the wheels. 310hp was the safe limit for the stock KO4 on this platform using the stock fuel pump.

stock seals on the Mazda version of the KO4 were weak. Not a big deal to change them out but putting a catch can on it even stock was a good idea. Moderate launch on stock tires yielded me low 13's. The six speeds was a PIA for the 1320' but did well on road courses.

My car has 112k on it. Yes the stock seals sh_t the bed. Replacement turbo had the shaft break. My luck lol.
I also have aftermarket pump internals, run 4 gallon e85 mix and it should be about 320whp, that's what others are getting anyways.
Haven't gotten it to the track yet, but if I weren't in the mid 12s say 12.7 I'd be surprised as all hell. I've got very meaty tires and they don't really spin endnote launched right. It yanks many cars who underestimate it. Such underrated cars, that's part of my love story with it.
