Opti-Coat Questions
Im about to do a car this weekend and apply Opti-Coat. I just had a couple questions.
After polishing, can I use IPA or Menzerna Top Inspection? I would use CarPro eraser. but no one around me carries it and im not going to pay expedited shipping on a 20 dollar product.
Also, how quickly should I start the leveling process? Some say start right after application. Others say within 5 min, some others say after 5 min.
Thanks for the help?

As far as wipe down, I use the Mike Phillips IPA ratios.

As far as application, here is Chris:

I'm sure there are other methods used by all on this forum, but there are some really good tips in the video. Keep in mind he is using Opti-Guard though. I've seen him using OC 2.0 in a different video:

Re: Opti-Coat Questions
I just did it and I messed up leveling in a few places. I would wait about 5 mins and then lightly take the MF they give you and just level the panel you just did. I didn't do it that way and I wish I had.

Re: Opti-Coat Questions
Depends on heat and humidity. If its hot out, little humidity, its going to dry very quickly and vise versa. So if you see it flashing already as your applying it, its best to do half a panel and immediatly wipe down that panel to level high spots. If not, wait a few minutes and start, you can tell because it gets tacky or something. Im not completely sure this is just what I was told from watching how to videos on it.

Don't watch the clock...watch the product. When 80-90% of the product had flashed clear, lightly wipe the panel to remove the excess. Times will vary between temps and humidity so it's best to just watch it in good lighting. Also, of you have to do more than just a brisk wipe, you've waited too long. The excess will come right off if timed right. If you do have a spot that doesn't come off easy, just leave it and polish it later, because if you rub with pressure while it's trying to dry it will make the section bead weird and may haze. Look over the latest video on my YouTube channel, I go over all of this. ChrisAtOptimum is my channel. Good luck.

Oh and you can use grease/wax remover from any part store or low odor mineral spirits from just about anywhere for your wipe. Just remember that it can take more than one and use multiple towels so it doesn't get saturated and allow redeposits.
