    D/A backing plates (5 inch)

I just ordered a Griot's Garage D/A. I'm turning trusty Meguiars G110 into a dedicated carpet scrubber with a brush attachment. I would like some "real world" advice from people who actually use 5 inch backing plates. I will be using 5.5 inch pads on the Griot, which 5 inch backing plate do you guys like or don't like ???

I'm looking for a backing plate that is flexible and durable.

So far I'm leaning towards Lake Country or the H/D from "Edge"

    Thanks

I like the Meguires w-67da backing plate. Maybe just a bit more durable than the LC and also has the hook and loop best for the MF buffing pads. I really don't think you can pick a wrong one, All the ones AG sells are very high quality!

    They all work very good.

In my how-to book one of the points I make is that there are different types of hook and loop material and you want to make sure that they match for the best attachment strength.

So what I suggest in my how-to book is to buy your backing plate from the same company that makes the pads you're going to use because if they are a reputable company they will have already done their homework and the hook material on their backing plate will match the loop material on their pads.

Also keep in mind the hooks wear out with use as they are stretched over and over again they loose their ability to regain their hook shape.

I point this out because over the last 10 years online I sometimes see people that are surprised their backing plates don't last forever.
