Baby proof car (keeping it clean)?

I have a baby boy on the way soon. It is our first kid and is a blessing. I am a tad concerned on how much wear having a baby will have on my car.

I have stained proofed my carpet (aerospace), have rubber winter mats and protected my leather seats (leatheriqu). The inerior of my car is black and the car is new.

My wifes car is old and has cloth seats. I have protected her interior as well. I would do the above automatically without a baby on the way.

Is there anything else i need to do? For some reason i envision the interior of my car being trashed, specifically the back seat. Im thinking of putting garbage bags down in the back, lol.

I know this sounds bad, but im a tad worried. My wife doesnt grasp the concept of keeping a car clean and treating it as a baby also. Im beyond anal when getting in and out of the car and very aware of not damaging the interior in any way. The exterior is a given.

Im also wondering if the base of the car seat will ruin the leather seat it is attached to?

I hope this post doesnt come off bad. I simply like to keep my things looking new

Another member here bought some terry towels that matched the interior color (black, in that case) and covered the back of the front seats, etc. I don't know how to find that thread, because that wasn't the topic of the thread.

thanks.. I will see if I can find it via keywords. not sure if that is possible though Hopefully someone else chimes in. I will look into that for now. I can definitely see the back of the front seats becoming worn.

LOL, it wasn't about them becoming worn, it was about them having milk and applesauce on them...or worse. If I remember it was a G35 or something like that, and the thread was about something else, but someone asked about the covering on the back of the seat, so the OP went into detail about it.

I can tell you I coated all my cars carpet with 303 Fabric Gard before we had out boys. Always works well to protect spills.

Leatherique is fantastic but I don't think it will "protect" the leather as such.
You probably want to look into Optimum protectant plus or UIGP.

Also I would put something between the baby seat & the leather such as a towel or blanket. If you can somewhat match the color most people probably wouldn't even notice...

Oh & as mentioned by Killr, you probably want to treat the carpets & fabrics with 303 high-tech fabric guard not aerospace protectant...

    Thanks!

I already did the 303 when I bought my car. So I'm good there. However, I will apply some more just to be safe. I will definitely buy optimum protectant plus or UIGP and the towel under the baby seat is a good idea. Thanks!!! Appreciate the input.
