Re: DuraGloss #111 clearcoat polish....thoughts
Sounds like you are very pleased with the results there Klasse Act. What pad color and brand polisher did you use and the speed settings? Or was it done by hand? I will be doing the exact same thing to my white Mercedes ML350 sometime next month. Because the Mercedes is new and the paint is very hard and perfect, I will probably clay then repeat what I did when I first got the car in May. What I did then was clay and a coat of the bonding agent along with a less harsh cleaner/sealant (105). But this time I will top that with a pure sealant (111) and then aquawax the next day. I am curious about using the aquawax as a helper in removing and buffing in the 111 but I thought the 111 had to cure a day before applying the topper. Am I wrong about that?

Is 111 pretty much Zaino Z2?

Yeah I'm very happy with the ease of use of DG products and results speak for themselves. I've applying them by hand on my car as it doesn't need a wheel, I give my car alot of attention, there's NO swirls thus meaning, no need for a wheel but I do have one, well, two of them, both of the Griot's wheels, 3" and 6" and they peform VERY well, like they did today on a 2002 S2K that was silver and had alot swirls (silver car) as well as a line of scratches down the side of both doors an part of his rear quarter panel but for that I busted out the Meg's UC and let me tell you this, THAT STUFF KICKS ASS! I removed all the swirls using an 8 section pass method, set the speed to 5.5 and used the orange Griot's pad for polishing. You see Griot's makes it easy for you, one pad for polish and one for wax/jeweling, that's it. Here's a breakdown of what I did today on that S2K:
-ONR rinseless wash
-Griot's clay bar
-Meg's UC
-DG #101 w/ PBA
-DG #111 w/PBA
-Black Fire Crystal Seal (just for a little extra)
The car came out awesome, customer was blown away and I wanted to take pics but as soon as I was all done, it started to sprinkle, so his car stayed in the garage. He wants me to come back next Monday to do his daughters Tiburon, so I'll snap some pics of the S2K next week, along with the Tibby, its a nice shade of bright blue, that car will really POP!

If its true that Zaino and DG are one in the same, what's #101 and #111 compareable to in the "Z" line? Also, I have their ZFX additive left over and wonder if I can use it in either #101/#111, thank you.

I know there is the talk about being the same BUT!!!!!!. I just did a comparison between 501 and ZAIO on the wifes Toyota. I can tell you durability was pretty much the same but application was definately different. The ZAIO went on alot easier than the 501, both appeared to clean about the same. The ZAIO had a few streaks that required more buffing or a spray of Z6 to eliminate. All of this was done by hand. If 501 would go on as nice as the ZAIO it would be perfect. Now the Z2 Vs, 105. For me Z2 goes on and off very easily with out any problems. I did the daughters hood on her Escort applying 601 by hand and then the 105 by hand. It was definately more difficult to remove than the Z2 but I managed. I think the 105 compares to Z2 in looks and I would Z2 the vehicles once a year with maintenance of Z6 and Z8 in between washings with Z7. I think the 601/105 durability will be about the same and maybe longer with the Aqua Wax and cleanings with 932 which is a great no-rinse and a very good QD if you can keep it from streaking. All of this is my own opinions and observations. For the little differences in these products the only real obstacle I know of is price although you may use less of the Zaino because it seems to go on a lot easier.

Did you try Z2 with 601? If not then it's not a fair comparison because you are using one with a bonding agent and one without. Do a side by side without 601. The bonding agent can at times be a little more difficult to remove in my experience. Try comparing ZAIO to DG Swirl Mark Remover if you have a chance. SMR is a potent AIO with more protection than 501 and contains more abrasives. I'm not going to say Zaino products are 1 for 1 with DG, but I would "guess" they simply are tweaked formulas.

Z2 with ZFX and 601/105. Just a comparison on how I would use the two, how easy to apply and remove. The Zaio and 501 was just an experiment to see if one would outlast the other and I noticed the ZAIO went on easier (less grabbing) and went further although they both went out at the same rate, no noticeable difference. I will check on the Swirl Mark Remover.

Wow, never realized 671 SMR was a AIO. Do we know what DG sealant is in the SMR? Might be just what I need for a spring mild cleaner/polish that can just be topped with 105--501 doesn't make a dent in my VW clear.

I see. I haven't used ZFX so I can't comment how it compares to 601. Is ZAIO thinner than 501 or similar?

The sealant is similar to that in 105 Total Performance Polish. I haven't messed with it enough to tell you the perfect pad to use with it or how much to use. I do know that it has some pretty decent cut to it.
