    Home Made Dual Bucket Dolly

I decided I needed a dual bucket dolly and knew there had to be a way to make a decent one with a small footprint. My goal was to spend about 25 dollars for materials. So, I got an idea when I saw furniture moving dollies for sale at HD.

This is the basics of what I started with (Home Depot, about $25):

First I removed the carpeting on the dolly and all the staples that held it in. Next, I cut the 1x4" board to the correct size and attached it to the furniture dolly so the buckets would sit level, I also had to extend the length of the dolly 3.5" each side to fit the buckets. Then I carefully measured and templated where the corner braces would go so there would be a snug fit on the bucket.

At that point I had this:

Then, I bought a hinge and some furniture stops and figured out a way to make a brake so it won't roll away. Also, attached a rubber bungee cord to use as a pull

This is what those parts looked like:

    Brake off:

    Brake on:

    The finished product:

    Picture with buckets brake on.

This turned out better than I expected and is supper sturdy the furniture dolly wheels are made for several hundred pounds, so they have no problem rolling full buckets around. I used about 50 wood screws of various lengths to attach all the extra wood.

    *** Thanks for looking.

This dolly looks awesome and very easy to use. The handle looks great. Also looks super sturdy. Did you coat the wood with anything? Will repeated water exposure damage the wood eventually? I was thinking of staining the one I made or painting it to protect it from water, as it seems sturdy enough to last a lifetime. I wish I had more space. When I made mine, what was first priority was small footprint. I only have a 1 car garage and it's not much wider that the car. I have to store all my stuff there. This has lead to some creative ways to store stuff.

I would def seal it. Some type of deck sealant would work

    Very nice! Congrats!
I would coat both the wood (either with paint or veneer) and the metal (so that it doesn't "hurt" the buckets)
