Does your Griot's DA say PROFESSIONAL random orbital on the side?
Or 6" random orbital on the side of the casing? Why do I ask, because I'm 99.9% Griot's either tuned down their DA or switched manufacturer. Something is different! I bought my first GG 6" DA a couple years ago(says professional random orbital on the side), and it has some major balls!! On speed 4, I can put a lot of pressure, and the pad will not come close to stopping rotation. I was so impressed by this, I bought another(said 6" random orbital on the side) one a year or so ago. When I first tried it on speed 4, I noticed by putting the same amount of pressure as my original one, the pad stop rotating MUCH easier. NO question in my mind! I sent it back to Griot's and they sent me another one. Same exact thing, noticeably under-powered compared to my first one. At that point, I got my money back. Fast forward to a couple days ago, I gave it one more shot, I ordered another one. Guess what, SAME thing as the previous two, very weak on speed 4 compared to the first one. There is absolutely ZERO doubt that my first one(new 6" GG) has more balls than the last three. I'm going to send Griot's an email with my thoughts. I doubt they will admit anything, but something is different. Just a heads up. Has anyone else noticed this?

Mine does NOT say professional on it but I honesty have no complaints about the power of it, even at lower speeds.
I would be interested to see what Griots would have to say in response to your thoughts however.

Mine says professional. I bought it about 2 years ago.
I used it on speed 4 today and you are right, it is not easily stopped. I prolly put around 15lbs of pressure.
I also noticed today that I think it has half settings? Can anyone verify this? I always just notched it on the number I wanted. But I noticed that it will click into a halfway postion as well.

I had to look at it lol Mine says pro. On speed 4 I have no problems. I use speed 3-4 for most of my jobs without any issue.

Yeah, it's just very strange. The last 3 that I bought that said 6" random orbital on the side are noooooooooooooo doubt weaker than my "professional". I'm gonna post a video if I can.

Mark, mine says Professional as well. I still have the box in the garage and it says Professional on it too. I've had it for about 2 years now.

Mark, Griots took the "Proessional" name off their latest polisher. Some that had their GG polisher repaired were asked if it was used "professionally".
Griots "may" of had more issues/repairs coming from folks that detailed "professionally"; meaning the the tool was used everyday versus a few times a year.
What will be interesting, is to see if Griots dialed down the power/speed of the latest version. I always felt scared that something was going to blow up on speed 6. My GG says professional on it. I used my first one on speed 6 all the time and it did not last that long. My second one never goes pass speed 5 has faired much better.
