    OC2 and spray bottle application

I have been reading some posts recommending application of OC2 to the sponge/media with a pump spray bottle. I am wondering if there is a difference in spray pattern with different spray nozzles. Recently I had occasion look at the spray pattern on a piece of paper and I found my spray caps had an annular patten - like a doughnut. Most of the fluid in the outside ring with little coverage in the middle. This sort of defeats the concept of getting even coverage on the OC applicator.

Since none of these bottle came from AG, I do not know if the AG one has a different pattern. Do other manufacturers distribute bottles with more uniform patterns?

I think this all depends on the quality of your sprayer. I had some that worked well, and others that did not. I bought several little bottles and ended up replacing the nozzle the last time I tried it with a nozzle off of one of the other ones since I didn't want to re-transfer the liquid to yet another bottle.

I have an article coming out on this but to your question, the 4 ounce bottle we offer on Autogeek.net comes with a black pump sprayer and it does a very good job of atomizing liquids into a fine mist with a wide spray pattern.

Sprayer nozzles vary in pattern and volume dispensed. As long as you use a "mister" type nozzle like the one AG sells you should do well. The pattern, whether donut, star, etc. will outperform manually dotting the pad from the syringe every time both in coverage and because the quantity is metered by the pump.

Here's and example two types of finger sprayers:

The first is like we use for Opti Seal which is similar in viscosity to Opti Coat.

The second should be avoided as it is for higher viscosity liquids and dispenses 6x the amount of product as the "mister" type pictured first. For example, we use this type with our Tire Shine and Hyper Polish samples.

Another time and money saving tip is to rinse the sprayer after use so that you can reuse it.

    • transfer any remaining OC back into the syringe for storage by drawing it back using the provided blue tip and a shot glass.

    • fill the reservoir with warm soapy water and pump a few sprays through the nozzle into the sink while running water.

    • disassemble the nozzle, reservoir, and pickup tube and rinse individually.

    • allow to air dry before reassembling.

This only takes a couple of minutes and save a few bucks.

    My Method:

Tools:4oz Cosmetic spray bottle from drug store
    • Blue shop towels
    • Micro fiber wrapped sponge
    • Plastic sandwich bag

    Process:
    • Squirt OC/OG from syringe into cosmetic spray bottle
    • Put MF sponge in plastic sandwich bag
    • Wrap the MF sponge/bag with a blue shop towel
    • Spray the Plastic bag covered/Blue shop towel wrapped MF sponge
    • Apply to paint
    • INSPECT FOR HIGH SPOTS

VERY easy method and I have tried a few
