and extractor, if that is not possible try plasing a damp cloth over it over night, this may help. Again if nno luck try some carpet cleaner, work it in really well, then vacume as best you can followed by a few rinsings and a really really good vacume

Hmm, I like this question. Well for me me when I receive salt stains on my soes I allways use vinigar. It seems to nutralize the acid in the salt. I belive for anything if their is a acid or alkaline causing problems use the reverse fom household goods and that should nutralive the problem. I would also say use a good stain remover after the vinigar soloution. Good Luck please keep me informed.

How to Get Salt Stains out of Your Car's Carpet

If you drive in a cold climate, you'll very likely end up with white stains on your car's carpeting from road salt. Fortunately it's easy, if a little repetitive, to get the stains out. Here's how.
    Steps

    1. In a spray bottle, mix up a solution of 1/2 warm water and 1/2 white vinegar.
    2. Spray the stained area with the solution.
    3. Press a dry terrycloth towel over the wet area.
    4. Remove the towel when it's soaked.
    5. Repeat until the stains are gone.

    Tips

    * If you don't want to spend a whole day doing this, apply the solution whenever you happen to be driving. Just remember to remove the towel promptly and let the carpet dry out.
    * Don't be discouraged by a deep-rooted stain. It will come out eventually.

    Warnings

    * Avoid the temptation to rub the stained area. It doesn't help and may damage the carpet.

Ever time I get on here, I hear more and more uses for 50/50 water/vinegar. I think I'm going to have to make up a small spray bottle and carry with me when I detail.

Mat is a real Durable rubber type. I would a say for the money worh every penny. I have a set in my G6 and two mats in my Serria. Vingar does wonders in nutralizing acid (salt) stains

Re: How to remove a salt stain

Over the weekend I tried to remove the salt stains from black carpet in my 08 MX-5. On Saturday I used 50/50 vinegar and water. No luck. On Sunday I washed the car and I tried the DP 4 in 1 that I was using on the exterior. Wow, it removed them with just light rubbing. Now the carpet in the MX 5 is not the highest quality carpet so I can't say how this will work for you. DP mix was according to label in a 5 gallon pail. DP smells better than vinegar also.
