Wow, that's expensive...I think I got my halogen stand on sale at Sears for $25...I think it cost more than that to ship it here from China. Just check out the tripod before you buy anything, last thing you want is for the thing to fall on the car.
why doesnt anyone use 4 600 watt MH bulbs or 1000 watts whatever you want with vented hoods . You would also need a ballast to run each one. it is a expensive way to go but you will have ALOT of light. bulbs 40 for generic brands 80 for sun system bulbs. Are there any cons on using MH for defect detection purposes?

Just picked up a dual 1000w halogen work light from sears! ~$50. This one was the one with the locks for the stand, $10 more than the one without. Can't wait to try it out tomorrow!
I was in & out doing this Lambo Gallardo. wet sanded and removed scratches. Menzerna to the rescue with my Flex! i was using my tripod & my Brinkman inside!

I have an MH light that I use. I got it in the industrial section of HD. I hotwired it to use with an extension cord.
I use it a lot, but not nearly as much as my led head lamp.
