    How often to clean Pads?

I'll be receiving my PC7424XPsoon and trying to get an idea of how often I should clean the pads while polishing and waxing? The car is two years old with no oxidation but minor water marks.. Any comments about the cleaning process is also appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Jon

I clean my pads every 1-2 panels depending on how they look. I use an air compressor to clean mine, but a terry cloth towel works too.

    100%.

If you want to get rid of the water marks depending on how bad they are in the paint do the following: Wash the car, then clay the car. If the spots aren't removed by doing this then I would do a White pad with M205 or any minor cutting polish.

agree with Ben , if you are working with a orbital and the car is in good shape to start, you can go longer than a rotary that is cutting a lot. A few times around the car will do it - see the article cleaning "on the fly"

Re: How often to clean Pads?

I have often wondered this as well. Depending how big the car or truck is I will usually clean my pad 2-3 times per car. But when I clean mine I usually go all out and do a full cleaning meaning pad cleaner then scrub it good and rinse it out good, and finally dry it good before use. I have 2 of each pads so I alternate them.

Is their a better way you guys would suggest I do it?

I just went thru this two weeks ago. Check this thread out. Mike chimed in with his advice as well.

Thanks all for the good info! I like the terry cloth method and appreciate the link.
