Ugh. This isnt fair! Clearcoat peeling

So I posted this picture awhile back. I believe a rock chip had hit this spot and the clearcoat started to peel. It had looked like this for a good 6 months. It seemed pretty stable.

Fast forward these past few months. That spot now looks like this. Sorry for the picture quality. And it is getting worse. That is bare naked paint and I could easily chip off a good bit of clearcoat that is peeling off.

And thats not all! I noticed this for the first time today. This is the same panel with that patch of clear missing. This is very recent because I washed my car a week ago and they were not there. It is bubbling up! I can press down on it.

Last week when I washed my car. I now noticed these spots. The car has always had that faded spot on the handle since Ive owned it. But these spots were NOT there. I have noticed that the handle paint never looked very good. Not glossy.

What in the heck is going on here! My paint is ruined! I could deal with that patch of clear missing because it was isolated. But it seems it is now traveling down the whole panel. The door handle now looks like crap.

I have that along with a front and rear bumper that are repaints that the dealer didnt inform me about. The color match is poor. (this was pre-autogeek, I wouldnt have bought the car if I knew what I know now). The rear bumpers clear coat is peeling along the seems because they were to cheap to remove it to paint it properly. It is also oxidizing on the bottom.

I love my car and it pains me to see the paint going downhill like this. I dont have a job so I cannot afford to get these panels repainted. And even if I did have the money, I have little faith that someone could paint two bumpers, and fender and door handle and actually get the color match correct.

Seems 1 out of every 5 Altimas around here have that problem. A Woman at my work has NO clear on the roof of her 04 Altima.

I took a look at the fender in the halogens at the gas station and it is actually worse than the pictures show. I thought it was just little bubbles. But it appears to actually be that whole top edge has delaminated from the paint.

Your only solution is to sand the car and have it reshot with a top quality catalyzed cleacoat.

I guess I was lucky. My 1992 Ford Explorer didn't start to develop clearcoat failure until 2010

I would like to do the respray myself. I am looking to rent a pint booth to do it in. Or I may just plastic sheet my garage.

Looks like clear coat failure. Has the car ever been repainted? If it is still the factory paint I would take it to the Nissan dealership and have them look at it.

all this talk about cc has me wondering what Oscar is up to...
I told my wife that a husband is like a fine wine; he gets better with age. The next day, she locked me in the cellar.

The clear in beginning to bubble in spots on my 2005 Altima as well...Maybe it has something to do with the clear they used that year???
