I know for sure the front and rear bumper are repaints.

I dont think that fender is though because the paint is a perfect match, unlike the two bumpers.

Ill give nissan a call and see what they say.

Sorry to see this man. My grandpa had the same thing happen with his Mitsubishi Endeavor and Mitsubishi paid for it to be repainted. Make sure if they do send it out its a reputable shop because the shop who painted my grandpas truck went out of business and the clear coat failed again.

Would that stop my other panels from possibly suffering the same fate?

I would be willing to apply a permananet coating if it meant keeping my paint from falling off.

I think I am going to attempt what 02nissanISR did in this thread. Ive been putting it off for too long

Updated 11/21/11: Clear Coat Failure and Repair(with all pics)

I just need to buy the supplies and do some reading on how to go about doing it. Like how much to sand and what not. At this point. I am not afraid of making it worse. I will either fix it for now, or I could just let the paint fall off.

i guess u could spray more clear, but i think you will end up with some ghost spots. I think it is better to spray clear. should be more cost effective.

I dunno about that. Ive had my altima for 2 years now and put about 27k miles on her and she has been fairly trouble free. All thats been done is a new oxygen sensor, air filter, serpentine belt and oil changes.

Yes it has it has a few other problems (timing chain rattle, engine rattle on startup), but those are known issues that just about everyone who owns an altima has.
