Observations From Winterizing: Day 2

So I got an early start this morning, but I had to break to go to brunch and run MORE errands. UGH! Here are my observations:

1) Claying and washing the car again in Dawn mixed with Meg's Gold Class Shampoo DID NOT remove my LSP from my last detail job. Maybe Swissvax IS worth the money....HOWEVER...

2) Griot's Garage Paint Prep, Griots Paint Cleaner, Prewax cleaner worked EXTREMELY well removing the remainder of the LSP which was about 35% left on the car. After washing the car in the Dawn and Meg's mix, I filled a bucket of water and used a Cobra Green Micro-Chenille Wash Mitt, microfiber wash mitt to rub the paint prep into the paint.

3) Lowes has excellent customer service. I ended up bringing the Utilitech lights back with no box, no receipt, and they exchanged it no questions asked. However I will be taking this set back as a bulb has already burned out. Since AG doesn't sell shop lights I figured it was ok to include this.

4) I am not sure if I like the Meg's MF system. I will have to come to my conclusion after I have completed this job. Its very easy to use TOO MUCH product which does not wipe off easily. I'm using the 6" pads...however I believe the 5" pads would work better. The 3" pads are rather difficult to use with a PC7424XP.

5) Thank GOD my dad had an air compressor otherwise it would be a PITA to clean the pads on the fly.

This project is taking me longer than expected. BUT my problem is starting late and breaking to run errands, however this is all a learning process. At the least, I will be prepared when I do a customers car.

To add to this, I just got in from cleaning the MF discs that were soaking in a bucket of water and DP Polishing Pad Rejuvenator was created to provide detailers with a fast and effective way to clean pads without soapy residue or foamy degreasers.. This stuff works very well with cleaning these MF discs. I recommend this stuff to anyone using the Meg's MF system.
