2011 Mustang GT- NightMare!!

I was doing a 2011 mustang gt today and it was severely scratched. I spent 8 hours on this bc the place I got my stuff from here in town said use this with this pad and follow it with this and this pad.... This with that didn't work! To top it the cutting pad deteriorated half way through the car and all the places that sell pads were closed. Also I was 30 min from St Louis. I wasn't a happy camper. Heres what I used-

I can't find the links but but the compound I used was technicians choice TEC527 power cut with a yellow compound pad, then they said to use TEC526 Black Cherry Cleaner Glaze to eliminate the swirls the compound induced. Lets just say the the glaze did absolutley nothing. I had to use INSTA CUT #15 to get the swirls from the power cut out and under the right lighting that seemed to work on most of it till I repositioned the light and notice it still had swirls all over the place!!

The car looked a lot better but still I have to go back again because I'm not satisfied with the results...8 hours!

The power cut worked but it took awhile to get any imperfection down.

Not looking forward to it but I have a black Challenger same deal brand new car with swirls. There's a shop that is open tomorrow that sells a few Meguair pads and 3M pads

I'm thinking about spending the money for some 105 and 205- Only reason I haven't tried is is because I hear lots of people like it and lots of people don't like it...

Good luck my friend. You honestly need to skip the local crap and stick with Meg's M105/M205 because they have a long track record of working. I hope you get things cleaned up and achieve the results you desire

I have to agree Shine, stick with the bigger brands. Megs, Auto Magic, AG brands. There is a reason they are big companies that have been in business for a long time. It makes all the difference to have to right products that are true and tested. Once you do find something that works for you, stick with it and don't go for the Flavor of the Month. If your in a bind and can't wait for an order from AG, I would look and see if there is an Automagic distrib near you. They usually take their vans/trucks home and will meet up with you on the weekends. Not sure if you have AM, but thought that might help. Good luck! I did a 7 hour correction today and went through 4 different products till I found the right set up. Stupid Porche Cayenne clear coat is insanely hard.

I've posted a number of threads on detailing my black 2011 Mustang GT. The paint is very prone to scratches. Here is what works for me:
1. You may or may not need M105 on a LC light cutting pad. The paint is very soft and M205 will get most of the swirls. Start with M205 on a test spot and see if that is sufficient.
2. M205 on a LC polishing pad.
3. P085rd on a LC finishing pad.
4. Wipe down with Klean Strip-Prep All or DuPont-PrepAll.
5. Apply the sealant or wax of your choice. I prefer Blackfire Wet Diamond.

Wow I sure didn't think the paint was soft lol. I even used a wool pad on one fender and it still didn't pull those scratches shown on the fender.

I'm with truckbutt. That is my go to process on darker cars.

Just spent $75 on meguiars....pretty expensive but if it works ill try it.

I agree completely with truckbutt- so consider taking his advice about using milder polishes and pads. My black Mustang seems to have a really soft finish too. I swear I've seen new scratches and swirls appear simply by walking too close it...
