    Bugs

While I was working on my car today, a man walked up and asked if I could give him and idea in how to take care fo a problem with this car.

I walked over and he had a Black Lexus SUV (with 26000 miles) that the priro owner had not taken care of.

It seemed to have bug splatters over the front and the hood that had been there for a while (probably months). After cleaning an area I attempted to clay, which did little, I then used a orange pad with mezerna for ceramic paints and the surface looked shiny....except fot the bug stains. The stains are essentially dark in color and now smooth to the touch.

Any ideas? (and I know pictures would help, Ill try to get some but its not my car.)

They are probably etched into the paint. Bugs are full of acids and proteins that will eat through the clear. Wetsanding may help.

I agree with Justin ... bugs, just like egg can immediately etch paint from the proteins and juice in 'em. All you can do is wetsand or polish and lessen the damage until repaired with repainting.

Future ... have him protect better with wax or sealant, and keep some Bug Squash from Poorboys on hand.
