So whats the single biggest thing you have learned detailing this year??
After detailing for many years I finally learned to use less product and I do not need to make as many passess. This has helped go faster and keep my sanity. I've also perfected going around trim and the badges without taping. How about you?
Re: So whats the single biggest thing you have learned detailing this year??
I learnt to :
- Use a rotary polisher properly and safely(with a rotary, everything is so fast its unbelievable!!! I can compound in like 2-3 passes!)
- Wetsand and remove orange peel. (Thanks a lot to Mike for his great help!)
- use less product(This is the ultimate thing!! When you cut down on literally everything, it all becomes so easy. Like thin sealant/wax layers = easy removal + less product wastage. Thin coat of tyre protectant = less slings, less product wastage and great finish on the sidewalls)
- acknowledge the role of hand polishing in a detail!
- mask the trim properly before a thorough compounding and polishing job.(+ sometimes I use a surgical mask to avoid M105 powder inhalation! )

The single biggest lesson I've learned to date is, you never stop learning!!!
