There are clays that are good for regular or semi-regular use, then other clays that have quite a bit of bite to it that would be better suited for heavy duty paint cleaning!

I recently started using the Pinnacle Ultray Poly Clay to remove overspray from my entire truck and it's been working really well. They were painting the toll booths not far from work and hundreds of cars got coated in white concrete-like paint. Needless to say, once that stuff gets caught in the clay you start finely scratching up the entire paint. Nothing the PC couldn't take care of though!

I ended up being experimental. I sprayed some Goo Gone gel over the area and started working it with a plastic putty knife. It worked a little. Then I remembered something I used to do to remove sap droppings (I used to detail cars for a living 25 years ago). I let the Goo Gone sit a while and started very carefully using the edge of a penny held at about a 45 degree angle over the individual streaks of paint. The Goo Gone not only loosened up the unwanted paint, it worked as a lubricant for the penny. It slowly came off and I didn't see any scratches. After I got it all off I wiped it down with a microfiber towel and clayed it with a conventional clay lubricant to remove the tiny specks and residual paint remaining. I then followed up with a Swirl and Haze remover, a Polish and then re-waxed the area. It turned out perfect. This method took a lot of patience, but I felt it was the least invasive to try first.
