    Hand polishing

What do you guys like to use on the areas the machine can't get to? What pads or products should a guy invest in for the nooks and crannies when you're doing swirl removal?

Usually if a 3" spot pad can't get it while on a machine, I grease up my elbow and get to work.

I'm all for that....do you just use a standard store bought pad or do you have any better recomendations? Are there hand pads that cut like our machine pads?

you could follow up with m205 and a mf towel or ultimate polish. i don't. maybe if someone gave me a lambo and 100 hours i would, but its rare for anyone to give me there car for more than 12 hours. there just isn't time for such a small detail. most times i have 4-8 hours to detail with a machine and do the inside.

ultimate compound finishes down really well anyways. it rarely needs m205. the SMAT tech/diminishing abrasive works like a dream. an old meg's add says that ultimate compound doesn't even need a follow up polish. black cars for sure, but light colour cars not as much.

You can use the 3" machine pads to work by hand if you need something aggressive, otherwise good old yellow foam applicators work great for light to moderate polishing.
