Agreed on the 303 Fabric Guard; though I also have been known to use 3M Scotchgard.

Can you use 3M scotchguard with an extractor? I read somewhere you shouldn't use anything that foams with it.
I read very read/heard very good things about 3M scotchgard.

Would you use 303 fabric guard after extraction? or would the seats being damp cause a problem?

I found this to be a great question, so great that I just called 303 about the proper use of this product. If you have any doubts to what I'm about to say, please call 303 and ask to speak to Roger about the proper use of High Tech Fabric Guard.
After calling 303 and explaining that I had a technical question about the proper use of High Tech Fabric Guard, I was transferred to a guy named Roger. When this gentleman answered the phone I proceeded to ask him the questions above. He responded by saying the product works best on clean, dry fibers. After you do an extraction using your chemical cleaner, make one more pass with water only to remove any residue (essentially rinsing the carpet). Then place a fan on the carpet if using in an automotive environment, and allow the carpet to fully dry. Once dry proceed to spray High Tech Fabric Guard for best bonding. Slightly damp will work but dry fibers will allow full, proper bonding. He also stated that the temperature has a lot to do with it as well. They have determined that 70 degrees F is the lowest temperature the product should be used, 80 degrees F or warmer is always best.
If using this product to treat convertible tops, make sure to thoroughly clean the surface and move the car in the sun to speed up the drying time. I hope this information helps someone and like I said, feel free to call 303 if you wish to verify this information.

great info! thanks for contacting 303 for a solid answer on that.
i wasn't really focused on the ambient air temp but i guess that's something that needs to be taken into account.

To be honest I wasn't either. I wasn't expecting an answer that in depth but I'm glad he provided it. So even if you decide to use another fabric protector, just make sure you have the fibers fully clean and dry before applying the product.
