While I am not sure about the "correct" way to clean them,
what I have been doing for 2 years is throw them all together into my washing machine, add washing powder and come back hours later, put them on my grit guards to air dry.
Most of them turn out to be as good as new, while a few may have some stains...
My family car is a daily driver and other family members do not tell a difference between a swirl and a squirrel [Mike Phillips]... they think washing and waxing the car is a waste of time... so... I can (or forced to lol) withstand a few stains on my applicators. If you are not comfortable with that, you may simply throw them away

I guess a better way to clean all these are to use a proper microfiber/pad detergent which can be found here:
Don’t drown your microfibers, clean and restore them with Pinnacle Micro Rejuvenator!
DP Microfiber Cleaner concentrated microfiber detergent and degreaser
Micro-Restore doesn’t just clean microfiber, it restores microfiber!
Follow the instruction on both your tool as well as your detergent. Your tools have a certain life. Throw them away when you have to.

I machine wash my microfibers using Tide Free. It has no dyes, perfumes, or fabric softeners.

My pads and applicators I wash by hand using Pinnacle XMT Pad Cleaner and letting that dwell once I am done with that pad. After a few minutes of that they go in to a dedicated 5 gallon bucket of warm water. Once I am done with the car I take them to the sink and wash them all using Dawn.

If they are too saturated with wax/sealant etc.. just put them on a bucket soaked with Dawn or Tide overnight then wash it,if not just wash them in the wash machine hot.
Wash day tomorrow? Nothing clean, right?
