    Durrmaid Extractor problems

About the time the warranty expired on my Durrmaid Extractor, things started going wrong. It no longer is heating water, and today stopped spraying water. The tank also has a slow leak, though I think that's because I had left a little water in it and it froze.

anything I can check or service myself? Otherwise, I'm probably just going to try to find a local repair shop (Minneapolis).

    Re: Durrmaid Extractor problems

I tried to find a repair shop for one of my extractors around me. I had a big problem doing that. I found some vacuum place that I gave it to...they charged me $75, and I got it back in basically the same condition I left it in. After going back, and asking what the hell did they do exactly? They just kept beating around the question. "well, we charge $75/hr, and we cleaned out this and that".

They pretty much charged me to do things, that I could have very well done myself. Just be careful where you bring it...is what I'm saying, ha.

Now suddenly the sprayer is working. Still no heat.

Not to add insult to injury. But this makes me really glad I went with the Aztec for my mobile unit. I was tossed between the Durrmaid and the Aztec. Did some research, and come to find out...problems like what you're having, are fairly common with the Durrmaid.

There was a lot of rave reviews of the Durrmaid, so I bought it. Sorry I did. I ended up selling it and buying a steamer. If I end up buying another extraction, it will have in line heaters rather than having a switch between heating and cleaning.

As for not spraying try cleaning your tip. Sometimes they become clogged and quit spraying. As for the not heating part, if you can check wires under the heating element make sure they are not melted or corroded.

Probably a stupid question, but are you using distilled water in it? If your using tap water that could be why your heating element is no longer working. Tap water will cause lime scale and deposits on the heating element and cause it to fail prematurely.

Also make sure the clean water tank is full when heating the water, there is a float type switch in the tank that turns the heater on as a safety tgo make sure the element is covered in water when in heat mode , also make sure the float switch is moving easily and not stuck in the down, or low water position
