Fact or Fiction? Engine bay cleaning..read on
Hi all,
I just read on a BMW forum that a person detailed their engine bay using Meguiars Leather Wipes. I've read quite a bit on autogeek about cleaning the engine bay, but no where have I read that you can use Meguiars Leather Wipes.
So...Fact of Fiction?

If the vehicle was brand new then yes.
five years old and caked in dirt and dust, then no.

hehe, lol. I have a BMW, the engine bay is a gigantic piece of plastic shrouding.
what would provoke someone to use a leather wipe. and then at worse, go online and tell everyone about it. lol

I'm sure in their own mind they thought they had come up with a revolutionary idea

LOL... The visual that popped into my head was using a ton of baby wipes to clean my kid's bottom when he was young. There were times when I just wanted to spray his butt down with a garden hose.

Now did this person use it to "clean" the engine bay or "dress" the engine bay. If he used them to clean it then that is like using a spoon to dig a well.
But if he used it to dress the engine bay then I could see how that would work. I would personally opt for something a little more specifically designed for plastic and engine bays but if it works for the guy and he's happy then I guess that is all that matters.
