What up AG? I just left Sams Club and there was a Champion 2000w Gen on sale for only 450. ? is have any of you all ever used this brand for detailing purposes. How well do they work, and also are they actually as quiet as they claim to be?

I would be a little concerned. Its rated at 2000 watts AND 13.3 amps at 120 volts or about 1600 watts. The makers tend to rate them really generously. I would not depend on this one to do much more than run your polisher and maybe a light. If you plan on running a powerwasher, compresser or a vacuum you should plan on a 3000 watt unit.

I have seen this unit at Sam's, it looks good and seems to come with a good warranty. If you try it make sure you can return it if it is not enough.

The Honda EU generators RULE supremely.

you can hardly hear them running, and they make enough power to run 2 chopping guns and a drill.

I would imagine you could hook up all your halogens and run any polisher without issue.

Lowe's sells a Troy Built 6000w for about $600. Loud but power is there...

Thanks for the replies fellas. The generator looks good and there is a pretty good warranty that comes with. Like Feslope mentioned, the wattage was my only concern. I'm currently running a 5500 watt TB and it works very well, however, it's loud as heck even with the rear doors closed on the van. I do the majority of my work alone so there's never a need to run multiple units at the same time, except when polishing. But if you guys tell me 2000w will handle my polisher and lights simultaneously, I'll pull the trigger on the darn thing tomorrow.
This TB still has my ears ringing and it's been 6 hrs since I've used it.

I just got a 3500w Champion at Tractor Supply for only $300. Ive only had it for a few days and only used it once but I didnt think the noise level was excessively loud. It seemed to be a little quiter than most I've heard so in my opinion yes the noise level is as they claim. Avoid the Sams one and head to your nearest tractor supply. More power and cheaper too!

The biggest thing I found with generators is the manufacturer of the engine. Honda sells their engines to other companies that make them, as does Briggs and Stratton. As long as the parts themselves are a good product the company name isn't that big of a deal. We have a "generic" generator with a B & S and have never had any problems with it. Good luck on your purchase.

if your looking for a generator that is quiet , i'm telling you, the HONDA is the only way to go.
