    3M Ultrafina question

Anyone know if this product can be used with a PC 7424XP?

Product description says to be used with a rotary, but if it's a finishing polish, I would think it would work with a DA as well.

Yes it can be used with a DA. Any product that can be used with a rotary can be used with a DA. Just make sure your using it with a finishing pad.

Like SeaJay mentioned, it works fine under the PC. Do note you will probably have even less correction than on a rotary. This may or may not be a big deal, but I have had this combo (3mUF+PC) be too large a jump from say M205. So use your flashlight and make sure each step removed the marks from the previous step.

3mUF on the rotary, on the other hand, is very capable of correcting swirls! We have done a one step on a newer black wrangler and a black EVO with the UF dimpled pad on the rotary with astonishing results.

For the PC, Speed 5 or 6 and a black or blue pad with little product works great on ultra solt paints. This is the way we finished down on the Jet Black 135i we posted awhile back. It is also the trick for honda's berlina black (after 106fa!).

haha I know I shot myself in the foot. Obviously, there are products that are strictly for rotary or PC. But I would say that a lot of the time you can use either.

I'm sure Mike will post and set me straight!

I have been looking for the 3M ultrafina with red, green, blue, yellow, white squirt top but can't find them. I heard they don't sell them in USA only in UK. Which is funny cause 3M is an American product. Anybody help?

    Re: 3M Ultrafina question

I didn't believe that polishes labeled for Rotary use only wouldn't work well with my Flex 3401, until I got my first Rotary, the Flex L3403.

Example: 3M Machine polish, used it a couple times with the 3401 and thought "this polish is crap, doesn't do anything". Later, when I got the L3403, I gave it another shot. Now I think it's a great product. The finish 3M Ultrafine, Rotary and LC Black/Blue leaves is awesome, never bothered with it on DA.

3M is a global brand, and there are a lot of products they manufacture for markets outside the US that aren't sold here.

As for Ultrafina SE (Ultra Fine Machine Polish) it is a single product within the Perfect-It 3000 line, which is light blue in color. Autogeek sells it:

3M polish, 3M ultrafina, ultra fine polish, 3m car polish, rotary polisher, finishing polish, final polish

As stated above, you can buy ultrafina SE as ultra fine polish here in the states. The rest of the three colour system, however, has to be purchased from over seas.

Thus has been stated by 3M that it is due to the demand of different markets.
