    Are These Rims Fixable?

I bought a new car recently. The guy who had it before put custom rims on it and evidently took horrible care of them.

I tried soap and water, aluminum wheel cleaner, sponging, scrubbing nothing has worked.

    Here are pictures:

I'm no expert at all... But I would guess that you could ether sand blast them and polish them, or you could always sand them and paint them...

But I'm sure someone with more sense and knowledge than me will stop by very soon...

Clearcoat degradation and corrosion. Get them Powder Coated.

A local shop to me charges $125 per wheel for polishing, paint etc. Another $15 per for mount & balance as they take the wheels off of the car and the tires off of the wheels. 24 turn around service .............. had the wheels on my BMW polished & painted through them.

If its going to cost me approximately 400 - 500 bucks then wouldnt it just be a better idea to wait until the spring and get a new set?

Depends on your needs & finances. Either way it sounds like they're going to be switched out at some point.

look out for a set on Ebay, or local U-Pull-It lot. Tirerack often sells alot of rims for reasonable price too. I would measure the pricing/look of new set versus repair of these especially when you consider dismounting/repair/remounting and shipping charges too.

Tirerack and Discounttiredirect also sell wheel and tire packages for great prices. I once bought a set of nice looking 16"s with Falken tires mounted, balanced, shipped with new lugs and locks for under $600. That was a few years ago but I have seen some good deals recently too.
