How do you get windows clean?
I am having problems with getting my windows where I like them. I typically mist the window with cleaner (megs, invisible glass, diamondite or whatever is available) and then wipe off with a waffle weave window microfiber http://www.autogeek.net/ww1627.html or http://www.autogeek.net/glass-surface-cleaner.html. They look good initially, but then a day later they look all streaky with a film that I didn't notice before. Diamondite aerosol has been the worst with this.
Do most folks spray the window directly with the cleaner or on the cloth then apply to the window? I am wondering if that is the key.
Any tips are appreciated
BTW - the stoners and the glass master cleaner look identical. The question is why is the stoners 3 bucks cheaper

Your windshield may have a difficult to remove layer of contamination. Try DP Glass Restorer. I bought it and it left my windows the cleanest they've ever been without the annoying streaking your describing.

From first responded thread:
I use two microfiber towels regardless of what glass cleaner I use. My normal routine is spray glass with Stoner's aerosol, wipe with glass towel, buff with fresh, dry, standard microfiber. Sometimes I've noticed that a 2nd round of cleaning is required.

Is the "glass towel" you use a waffle weave or one of those microfibers with uber short nap almost silky feeling?

Re: How do you get windows clean?
The silky style. I haven't tried waffle weave yet. Sometimes I'll just grab two of my generic microfiber towels and clean with those.

What are you using for an interior protectant?

I've read that it could also be what you put on your dash.
The heat from your dash could leave some sort of residue that rises to the windshield.
But I only see that happening when you don't buff your windshield with a clean towel.

I have a cheap OTC version of the glass master and use it with a MF stuck to the Velcro instead of the pads that are supposed to go on it. I always go over the windows twice, once to get the main grime and spread the cleaner and a second time with a clean section of the towel to clean up/dry the glass. After all the windows are done I'll go around and spot check with one of the thin "napless" glass towels by hand. Something like the Glass Master is crucial IMO.
Also, someone advised to always wipe the interior and exterior in separate directions, that way it is easy to tell if the streak is inside or outside, great advice.

Most recently I used Megs #40 but I've had it with 303 as well.
I am beginning to think that the issue is more to do with the windows are dirtier than I think and the first "clean" is just getting the major grime off and I need a second time to really get them sparkly
