Long endurance tire dressing (& wheel well)
Tire and wheel well dressing I've tried a number of different products from cheap Armor All to Tire Wet and now Meguiars Hot Shine. There have been many in between. The Tire Wet and Meguiars seem to be pretty good in that they don't cause drying or browning. However, they still wash off easily. I recently put two coats of the Meguiars on (allowed ample time to dry before driving) and it looks like about 50% washed off just after rain we had here in NJ.
Should I switch to a tire gel for higher endurance? Which brand if so? I would like something with ahigh gloss shine.
Has anyone tried the Forever Black Tire gel kit? It states that it's a dye and will keep the tire black for months.
Also, what about the wheel well? What do you use to dress that...I was going to use a spray tire dressing to detail that. Any reason why not or something better?

I researched this a little and have been told that Meguiars All Season
Dressing is good on wheel wells and stands up to the wet enviroment.
I will report back as soon as I have tested it. I have used the NXT
Tech Protect in the wheel wells and like it. I wanted something I can
buy in gallon size is why I was looking at an alternative. As for the gels,
I think they last longer and do not sling off. I am presently looking for
a new tire gel and have posted here and Detailcity for advice.

Never found a water based dressing that lasts longer than a spirited rain storm. I too love the gloss look, and use Poorboys Bright and Bold, Pinnacles Onyx Gel, and Wolfgang Tire Gel with nice success. With the advent of water-based verus silicone dressings, your tires no longer turn turd brown after the rain storm however.

I agree that not having it turn turd brown is great. The tires are still black after the heavy rain and snow we got this past week; but they are just very dull.
Have you tried the Forever Black dye? I assume it's probably more effective on tires that are worn. It probably won't make my tires that much blacker.
I just want a shiny tire...is that so wrong?

Forever black works great it is a think black gel. It is a really nice product, but you have to make sure that you remove any excess product cause if you get the overspray on the paint it is a hard to remove once it dries.

I use Meg's Endurance on my tires. Their natural finish formula gives a nice matte look (read- non-glossy) and lasts for a good couple of washes. Lately I haven't been able to get a feel for its durability in rainwater though. Florida is in something of a drought atm
