Re: What product to remove this stuff from my rims?

Doesn't it cost around $200 per rim to re-chrome them?

Looks pitted, I doubt there is much you can do.

So, you're telling me i can't do anything about them? They look fixable, they aren't penetrating the chrome or anything. Just looks like micro water or chemical spots all over the rims that can't be taking off by Chrome rim spray or chrome polish.

I would bring the wheels back to wherever you bought them from. Although they can be polished out, they're likely to return. Many wheel manufacturers offer a lifetime warranty on the chrome finish, and getting a new set would fix them up to new condition.

There is a 2 year premium chrome warranty, if you want to go that route.

Can i still return them even though i'm not the original person that bought them? My cousin sold them to me before heading out back to this state.

Re: What product to remove this stuff from my rims?

I removed similar spots from my garage stool this weekend with a metal polish that is not available from AG. The stool had extensive chromed metal that cleaned up nicely (cars, trucks, garages, airplanes, boats, pots & pans, champagne buckets; can I help it?). It's not an exact comparison but the stool chrome looks awesome. I remember this type of corrosion from when I was in high school. A good chrome polish should do the trick with maybe a pretreatment with Triple/Quad O steel wool.

There should be a great AG chrome polish that does this. I used a sealant after the polish to give it a little durability. Check with AG to see about options or PM me for a reco.

I used mother's chrome polish, i don't know how effective it is but i used it with a porter cable and nothing. I was thinking of using sanding but wouldn't that destroy the rims. So, i guess i should give Quad O steel wool a try? What you think?

Definetly try the Quad steel with a polish. Then if that doesn't do it and you have nothing to lose try the 000 steel wool with polish. If that works then after getting it out go back over it with the quad and polish.

What's the difference between the Quad Steel and the 000 steel wool?
