    M40 vs All Season Dressing

    Hi everyone.

I was browsing around in the store here on AG and noticed that they carry both Meguiars All Season Dressing and Meguiars M40. I think I only want to buy one by the gallon to dress my tires and plastic trim with. Will probably be placing my order soon too.

I am pretty familiar with their product lineup already but was just not sure of the diference bewtween the two products? Maybe a picture might help if there is a big difference bewtween the two?

    thanks guys.

M40 is mainly use for interiors and won't last long on tires and exterior trim. You'd be better off going with the ASD for what you'll be using it on.

M40 is water based, ASD is solvent based. Therefore, ASD will last longer. ASD is for use on tires and fender wells, while M40 can be used on rubber, vinyl, and interior plastics.

Here's a pic of M40 on tires. Had to do a bit of digging to find this one. I know there's more, I just can't seem to find them for some reason.

Hey Shane, looking at the top picture of ASD, and it looks kinda glossy but yet it looks kinda satin. Which way does it lean more too? And how does the shine compare to High Endurance Gloss?

OK, I sent a PM and just received a reply from one of Meguiar's Technical Training Specialists over on Meguiar's Online.

My question: Is ASD solvent based? If not, what is its base?

His response: I assume you are talking about of All Season Dressing and yes. Solvent base dressing tend to be transparent where as water based dressing have are usually white colored.

Sorry it took me a little while to get back to you on that. Actually, I personally have not used ASD. I pulled up those pictures from MOL from other members who have used it. I sent a PM to one member in particular who uses ASD quite a bit in his details (and he has used Endurance a number of times as well), I shared your question with him, and this is what he had to say:

All Season Dressing definitly leans more to the darker and glossier side, it does not really leave a satin or matte finish. Sometimes if the tire is really dried out it soaks up multiple applications and is harder to dress, this has happened to me on older tires and the ASD will not look as glossy.

As for comparing ASD to Gold Class Endurance High Gloss, I would say Endurance High gloss is much more glossier than All Season Dressing. I actually do not use too much Endurance High Gloss anymore since it leaves a bit too high of a shine for my tastes. I would put All Season Dressing right in the middle being not too shiny but not too matte, but very dark with a minimal amount of gloss.

    Hope this answers your question.
