AG's How-To page says no bleach, no fabric softener, and no heat.

I wash my towels with cold water and let them air dry. Am I doing it the wrong way now?

That's how I do it too. That's why I started this thread.

Makes sense to me. This site specifically says no heat.

So to answer you question I would say hot water wash and rince would be the correct way to go. Also I would add this, I have never had a linting problem with my towels either.

yes, but you have to watch it carefully because the towels absorb water and next thing you know you have a fire. There was one person on Topia that that happened to. He didn't watch them boil and next thing he knew his kitchen was on fire.

Thats cause he boiled all of the water out of the pot & the MF's caught on fire
Thats what timers are for

I know, I couldn't believe he left them alone. Very hard lesson to learn.

Re: Proper way to wash MF towels?
There is really no need boil microfiber towels unless you think the agitation while it is boiling is important.
If you want to soak, just heat it to boiling, remove from heat, add towels, and then soak. Yes, the water temp may drop a little (drop below 212 F) but probably not enough to make an difference.
I have seen hot water affect some microfiber: lose shape and shrink, fade, etc. I think it is more effective to soak them in some all purpose cleaner (like Optimum Power Clean) rather than just rely on heat to release polish/wax from the fibers.

Then I just throw em in the dryer on regular heat until dry. If it's a hot day, I'll hand wash 2-3 towels, then just hang em on the roll hoops and they dry rather quickly.
Some peeps whom run business' use washing machines dedicated for detailing cloths only. I only do my own stuff, and occasionally a friends car, so I only have about 5-6 soiled towels at a time (depending upon what I am working on), which is why I just soak em overnight, and just wash em by hand.
Btw, this makes "Proper Way To Wash MF Towels" thread #..........
This is how I wash them as well. Lots of hot water and dawn in the bucket and I swish them around occasionally. I do switch out the initial dirty water for a new batch and it does get more out and makes it cleaner. A hot water rinse then on the line outside to dry.
