    Garden Hose of Choice

Did a search and have come up empty handed. I'm tired of my cheap garden hose's bubbling and/or leaking. What garden hoses do you all use and recommend? I've thought about buying one of the Goodyear's professional, or the Flexogen from the Depot but wanted to see if anyone knew of something better.

    Re: Garden Hose

I have 2 of the pro Goodyear 50' and one of Lowe's best offered 100'.
I am not overly impressed with either. The Goodyear being my least favorite. They kink very easily, and the rubber compound is heavy and grabs everything is slides across.

The Lowe's one is great in regards to the hose material, but the end can be hard to screw on and off.

The main thing to look for in ends is that they have a good sealing joint (the Goodyear's have a poor design here) and that the hex part of it is easy to grip with your hands (the Lowe's one that I have is about the same width as a wrench head, not good for hands).

    Something like this:

with beefy well made ends is ideal.

Also - the stiffer hose material is pretty good IMO. There is a balance though.

Can't beat the Sears Craftman 5/8 hose.

You get what you pay for, go with the Goodyear. Tried the Flexogen, it kinked even though the packaging said it would not. Sent the company an email mid summer, still waiting for a reply. I found a good deal at Lowe's.

My dad has one of these - it will probably be my next hose.
    NeverKink at Lowe's: 5/8"Dia. x 100' Water Hose
    Nice big ends.

The Crafstman hose has ends like my current one, and I do not like them. (Personal preference).

I was at Ace hardware the other day and was looking at the hoses. I saw some real cheap POS ones but was very impressed with the commercial grade hoses there and the price was reasonable too.

I purchased an Ace hexagonal shaped (no kink design) hose with a lifetime warranty. It does really kink much less but is heavier than the usual cheaper ones. The warranty is piece of mind. I think the fittings on the end could be a little better but it works nicely.

Rapid Reel. I've been using that hose, along with their power reel for over 10 years and it's nearly in perfect condition.
