AIO (poli-seal) on windshield to help prevent skipping?

my dog hauler/grocery getter '87 montero recently developed a strange behavior. the OE blades would tweak themselves and drag across the glass, either inducing so much friction that they would stick and actually stop the motor, or skip along in a rather rough manner. the blades were in good shape, maintained very well. the windscreen was very clean, it has had nothing happen to it to make this suddenly pop up. i decided to retrofit some silblade silicone blades and frames to the arms to replace the somewhat wobbly OE frames, and then used silbead on the glass to promote beading. well, it didn't change a thing. i use silblades and silbead on all of my cars, and typically they are whisper quiet and VERY smooth operators, especially after a few uses as the silblade deposits a very light amount of silicone on the wiping surface. not the case here....

the only time they work somewhat properly on my montero is when the windshield is either 1. soapy or 2. very very wet.

tonight i removed the silbead with dishsoap and hot water, and tried it again to no avail after rinsing.

i don't see how the tension would INCREASE on the arms, especially out of the blue using the OE frames before i even switched anything, so the idea of the blades being too tight against the window has to go out the window. something is causing a weird friction phenomena. soooooo, i'm thinking i need to try to hit up the glass with a white pad and some poli-seal and see what happens?

    what do you guys think?

I have no idea how Poli-Seal will work on the glass, but I think you are barking up the wrong tree. It sounds more like the windshield wiper motors need to be replaced, as opposed to new wiper blades, polishing the glass, etc. especially if it happened suddenly.

21 years is too much to ask of an electric motor. They had them at local parts stores and you can install it yourself.

you guys were right. i pulled the linkage as it seemed bound up a bit, popped all the cups, cleaned it all, relubed them and the spindles, reassembled and reinstalled.

then i replaced the motor assembly with a known good unit from my bin o' parts and sure enough, they work just fine now.

granted, the motor i replaced my old one with is from a parted out '88 long wheel base, but atleast it's one year newer lol

atleast i didn't have to spend any money today, just a little time and effort.

    thanks!

Even though you rebuilt them, you can still use Klasse AIO on glass. Works excellent, and water will bead right off.

I just read that today when I opened my klasse kit. I was just thinking today of ordering some glass polisher and plastic polisher. Now I wanna try the klasse on my windshield, mythtv (i usually try out all my new products on this first), ps3, coffee table and anything else I can find around the house
