    Removing wax residue from trim

The very first thing I did when I got my new car a little over a year ago was bring it home and do a clay polish and seal. I taped it off, but either I missed a spot, the tape ripped, or product got underneath it and ever since the car was new, I have had a small spot of residue on the mirrors molding that drove me crazy. I have tried claying it, i have tried applying a paint cleaner by hand, I tried the duragloss wax eraser and nothing has taken it out.

While I was at SEMA I stopped by the black magic booth. I didn't see 'black again' so I asked the guy and it turns out thats from a different company, lol. I told him my problem and he gave me one the of best tips any detailer has ever given me. He told me to try using wheel cleaner and to my amazement it came right out. It has been 4 days now, and it has not resurfaced yet so I am very happy, just thought I would pass the tip along.

Thank you for that tip. I am going to go try that as my G35 is filthy with residue on the mirror trim molding thingies.

Cool, let me know how it works out. Also, I didn't have to go heavy with the cleaner, just half a spray of megs aluminum wheel cleaner (which is kinda harsh and acidic) onto a all-purpose mf towel and light rubbing. Afterwards, I sprayed some quick detailer on the opposite side of the towel and gently buffed to make sure the cleaner was gone.

From what I have heard, peanut butter is supposed to take it off as well. It is not as harsh as wheel cleaner.

You also might was to try waxes that don't stain the trim... I know, this isn't always easy.

I've heard of using pb several times before. Seems a bit werid but apparently it works. I don't think there has even been pb in the house in years though.

A harsh wheel cleaner isn't my fav thing to put on the car either, that is why I sprayed it on a towel and only wiped the trim, then used qd on the entire mirror to make sure there was nothing that accidently made it on the surface.

Most of my polishes and sealants do not stain. This was my first time working with xmt and I have expressed my dissatisfaction elsewhere.
