Duragloss 501 Marine and RV polish
I have a new customer who wants me to detail his new Ford f-150 Harley Davidson truck black in color. My question is never used duragloss 501 on any other color but a white Infinity Q56 Suv, It came out nice, the truck is black in color, plan on applying it with my dp polisher does it matter what pad I use would a white polishing pad make some difference in appearance than say a orange would it correct some swirls in the paint or does it make a difference? Also was thinking about using poorboys ex sealant. What would you reccommend? Thanks I know alot of questions but want it to come out nice, he knows alot of people.

Love DG 501 and it will remove some light swirls/scratches with a white pad. Great AIO. Have mixed with OP for extended working time. Terrific prep for a sealant/wax. Have used on silver and black with equal results. Also excellent on wheels and glass. Goes on and wipes off easy. Very underrated product.
Never lie if your memory stinks...

Re: Duragloss 501 Marine and RV polish
501 works with any color....I use it many ways.....
I use it straight on good paint just to clean and seal....with a blue pad speed 2-3 on a pc 1-2 on a flex
on lite marred paint I use a white pad..speed 3-4 on a pc and 2-3 on the flex
on some medium marred paint I mix 106ff or SIP and 501 in a 4 oz bottle....I use 1 oz of 106ff or SIP and rest 501....use a white pad speed 4-5 pc 3-4 on flex....green would be tops for pads...
try to find your best speed as conditions vary due to temps ...humidity....
you do not want to use a high speed as it will flash to fast before it does its cleaning...the slower the speed giving you results the better...
I tried usong a orange pad with it..it just caused micro maring...as said...green woul be my top pad and only with a mix of menz and 501...
these pads are LC pads also...never used with sdge pads....

Re: Duragloss 501 Marine and RV polish
Thanks guys the customer cancelled had to out of town now will be back monday, so I will try the combo of p106ff w/501 w/ blue smart pad 5.5" on a rotory at 1200rpms or udm # 4 don't know depends what he wants to pay for, money not a problem. Did some test section on wife new car today ( 07 ) Nissan sentra blue in color, marring and webbing from previous owner only 19,000 miles looks like he took a steel wool on the front section of the hood, rest of hood spider marks swirls. Used a rotory w/ white pad 5.5" w/meguires solo polish not much difference, used white pad w/p106ff polish made some difference, took orange pad w/p106ff a big difference so went with that wiped w/alcohol to remove residue, looked nice with just a little sun left, used a blue smart pad 5.5 w/meguires using it as a fiinishing sort of glaze type, was impressed with that, so i washed down and dryed. So decided to go to the movie store and pulled under those orange parking lights and looked against the light and said awe no, not what I thought It came out, still saw webbing not to much not as much as before big improvement, I would like it better looking than that. So Tomm I have to come up with another game plan, will try white pad w/ xmt 3 to work it out further. and go from there. I'm going to soap it down tomm and go from there, might have to use a yellow pad or even a meguires burgandy pad cuts well to. I might have to mix a combo mixture.

Bud, it sounds like you're gonna need more correction than a mix of 501 and 106. I would amp it up to SIP or PG with a foamed wool, THEN follow with the 501/106 combo with a white or blue pad depending on how well you were able to finish it down. Glaze after that would be optional, not necessary.

Re: Duragloss 501 Marine and RV polish
Hey richey, thanks for the information, are you talking about the black Harley davidson truck or my wifes car? My wife car is my concern right now, like I said when I pulled under the lights at the video store I still saw some swirls in the clear, pretty upset because I had very little sun to look into to check out my progress. Also on the front bumper looks like the same thing used steel wool. Sunday I wetsanded the back bumper w/2500 wetsand paper to remove surface marring. To bring back the finish all I used was orange pad w/p106ff and that was it, still I used a blue finessing pad w/ meguires solo polish to give it more shine. Now I'm on the hood now, I don't have sip either, what else could you reccommend over the counter? I have a automotive supply place that sells detailing products, I know the sell 3m products. I have xmt 3 is the most I have now. Any products recommend would help. Thanks.

Terrific cleaning abilities as far as removing oxidation and revealing a nice finish
Very easy to apply; let haze, and removes nicely
Great shine
Saves time!!!
I used it with a white Smart white pad, and my PC
Here's a F*rd Expedition I did last week:
Half shot of the hood; drivers side done with DG501
Both sides:
Some afters:
That is what I wanted to see, came out really nice. I did a white Infinity Q56 Suv last Sunday.

I guess I was talking about the Harley pickup. If the 106 is not doing it, I suggest as OTC 3M finishing compound with orange. That should do it for OTC. The 3M ultrafina is great too I hear, but very similar results to the 106. Hope that helps.

Thanks Richy, I will check into that compound tomm. I have to get this car to as close to custom finish as possible. I told the saleman that sold me the car take a look at what they did to the paint, all the swirls and webbing they did he said all they did was wash it and wax it. He took a extra 150 dollors off to keep me intrested in the car to sell me. I purchased it and told him how good I am at detailing with a very established clientel, he said he will give me alot of bussiness when I show him that I can correct the paint with the right products. I wished they would have not washed it but they did that before we got there. Well thanks anyway. Let you know what happens.
