Best car wash sio2 for maintaining coating?

    Hey guys

I'm looking for good car wash sio2 for maintaining my coating, I'm currently using Nanoskin CRYSTAL WASH SiO2 Fortified Hydrophobic Shampoo but I want something better, any suggestions? Thanks

I would recommend using a protection free wash solution/soap for maintaining a coating.

This is a discussion that always confused me.

Isn’t one of the great claims of ceramic coatings that they’re ph resistant and more durable than any other form of protection you can buy?

If that’s the case, how could any soap (even dish soap) harm it?

If merely a wrong car wash soap selection can degrade a ceramic coating then my chances of marketing this to my customers does not fair well.

This is why I never make longevity (3yr, 5yr..) claims to my coating customers.

I say to use protection free because those soaps with "protection" in them could mask the preformance properties of a coating. Just like using a ceramic spray sealant or a ceramic detail spray as drying aid or after a wash. It may not bead or shed water/contaminants like a bare coating might.

I tell folks that i coat vehicles for to use a soap with no protection in it ph neutral, and aslo depending on how much the vehicle is driven or used i may give them a sample bottle of a high ph soap to decon with after a certain amount of time(depending again on how exposed to elements).

If its always driven in crap weather/roads, i maytell them to use a high ph soap to wash with every wash. Its really just dependant on a each individual

I tell people to use Reset and avoid SiO2 infused soaps not because other soaps will degrade a coating. I tell them to avoid protection based soaps because the coating is already providing robust paint protection and there is no need to stack protection on protection when you’ve already got the best. Just get something that will effectively clean the car and let the coating do it’s thing.

Totally agree as well. Meguiars Hyperwash has been my favorite for maintaining a coating. After switching to Hyperwash I didn't need to do a decon wash with Reset a couple times a year.

    Not sure what you're asking.

When I was using other soaps, like Optimum Car Wash, I had to do a decon wash with Reset a couple times a year to revive the coating and get the water behavior back to where it should be. As long as I've been using Hyperwash, I just use it in my normal wash routine and never had to use Reset or any other stronger product to keep up the performance of the coating.
