I have not concluded if there is a -shelf life- of Thioglycolic, the main ingredient .
I've used some Sonax FE that just wasn't effective any more - stored in temp controlled environment.
It's in a dark bottle so no #### on product color....
In other things like construction adhesives and what not, I am mindful to look at batch code dates, etc just to see

As I'm sure whoever you spoke with on the phone told you, I would use either of those products with zero hesitation! Iron remover is very fickle when it comes to manufacturing the product with a consistent color, and anything from extremely high to extremely low temperature can also cause the color to be altered slightly. I can assure you that the product is perfectly fine, and that it will still be just as effective as any other bottles.
