    Fruit Flies in car. Help!

My son has a Lexus ES330 with leather interior. He had a minor accident about 3 weeks ago. His girlfriend had a Starbucks coffee drink that spilled over the back seat. The car sat at a tow yard for 6 days before we could get it out. In spite of cleaning the leather, he now has fruit flies in the car.
Tips on getting the fruit flies out?
    Thanks in advance.

I once had a fruit-fly infestation in my kitchen from some spoiled fruit left on the counter. I made a home-made fruit fly trap that worked really well.

Get a glass jar. Fill it about 1/4 with apple cider vinegar and add a few drops of liquid soap. Screw the top on the jar and make a few very small holes in the top.

The fruit flies will be attracted to the smell of the vinegar. Once they go in, as long as the holes are pretty small, they get trapped and meet an early demise. It worked really well in my kitchen. I don't see why a similar trap wouldn't work in your car.

We've run into issues with them showing up in potting soil. Best luck we've had are these butterfly shaped stick tracks the Mrs has gotten off amazon. Doing a quick look, I think they're the "Garsum fruit fly sticky traps".

I've seen they're supposed to be attracted to vinegar, but when I've tried the trap like Joe mentioned they still beeline for the wine glasses...

You have to remove what they are feeding on. Clean it better!

Yikes! That sucks. I hate fruit flies.

99% rubbing alcohol kills the larvae. Can confirm. Bleach does too but unless it's a white interior not advisable lol.

Put a plate with an open banana in the car. Wait a couple hours. Remove the banana. Heck, it's worth a shot.

Take a bowl, put little bit of fruit in it and then cover it with ceran wrap. Poke some little holes in the ceran wrap, then place in vehicle. Fruit flies can ge into bowl through the holes but they cant figure out how to get out

Those are fungus gnats. If you put some Mosquito Bits (Home Depot) on top of the soil and water them in, it will kill the larva and you'll be free of them.
