Those are fungus gnats. If you put some Mosquito Bits (Home Depot) on top of the soil and water them in, it will kill the larva and you'll be free of them.
Thanks for the tip. I know the Mrs has also found if you add hydrogen peroxide to the soil it nukes them too.

I've seen they're supposed to be attracted to vinegar, but when I've tried the trap like Joe mentioned they still beeline for the wine glasses...
I've heard from house plant people that this means the plant(s) is getting too much water. We had this problem with a snake plant. My wife was watering it weekly. We didn't think that was too much by any means, but apparently the soil in the bottom of the pot was overly wet all the time. This was causing a gnat orgy. We would see them in the kitchen and bathroom mostly, and my wife's office where the snake plant was. Once she started watering over other week and a smaller amount at waterings, the gnats dissapeared.
