Wheel Coatings

No experience with Chrome but in the similar comparison to take alum and doing a full metal high polish
After coating, while it wasn't cloudy....but it was not as brilliant as it was when the alum was raw.

I heard someone say that ceramic coatings aren’t ideal on chrome wheels because they can leave a “haze” over chrome wheels. Anybody experience that? I haven’t tried on my wheels yet.

I've used Dlux on chrome wheels with no hazing. I know it's not a true ceramic coating, but I can't see the difference.

YMMV. Many others have said they see no indifference .....

For me, it's like spending hours until the jewelers rogue wasn't black at all and the minute I applied the coating, I wish I didn't.

Planning a new project, what's new, wondering what everyone's go-to wheel coating is.

The wheels are not going to be subjected to extremes, so in theory I could simply use a paint coating, but I would rather stay with an application specific coating.

I have also used NV Wheel, but it didn't wow me. At the moment, I'm leaning towards DLUX, which I've used before but not on wheels rather plastic trims. Also, is Gliss necessary on top of DLUX?

You will like IGL wheel. I like it on top of IGL eclipse.

I am currently testing the Armour Detail Supply Wheel Coating and I will say that it has much more solids than DLUX. I have high hopes for it but time will tell.

After your mention of this product, I was expecting it would be off limits to me in Australia. To my surprise, Armour Detail ship directly to Australia for a very reasonable amount, so I decided to take a punt on it. Will be my next "project" when I get a week off in October.

Great product. Goes on thick. Better than DLUX and of course Gtechniq and Gyeon.

I'm sort of worried about the thickness, I'm still relatively new to coatings.

Does that mean thick as in its a thick/sticky liquid, or you lay it down thick?

Don’t stress over it. It’s not a hard to use coating. Have multiple applicators available as the coating does cure hard rather.

I have that covered, going to try the Gyeon or Carpro finger mitts. Last time I did wheels, I was using a suede cloth that came with the coating, wasn't ideal in my opinion.
