Do you still use a sealant?

Just seeing if people still choose to use Sealants instead of going the coating route? And what are some of the reasons for that? Thanks

Re: Do you still use a sealant?

Sealants still have their place. Always will.

    I use a "Hybrid" in Collinite 476S.

My reason(s) are less prep, less worry about high spots, less worry about water spotting, and I'm not looking for multi-year protection.

    Purely my personal opinion.

FK1000p for me. Great bird and bug resistance. Easy on and off. Lasts all winter in the Midwest. And one tin lasts for years. It is, however, a SOB to get out of pads.

I'm still using it. Usually do an AIO in the spring and McKees Hi Def in the fall. My truck sits outside, and my neighbor loves to turn her sprinkler on it regardless of where I park in my driveway. I need to polish it yearly. Once I run out of the Hi Def I'll probably switch to can coat on it.

Wife's car is in the garage every night and is getting MOHS this week or next. My first foray into coatings. We'll see how it goes.

I have installed quite a few (maybe 6-7) coatings in the last two years or so for friends and co-workers.

Micheal (The Guz) gave me excellent advice on getting started, and it really is an easy process. You just need to have a heightened focus as to prep and application. (Do not hurry the process.)

I still do. My wife's Yukon has been getting Jescar Ultra Lock Plus.....but in the fall it may get coated. I do cars for some folks that do not have the budget for a coating, so they get the same Jescar product. Super easy on/easy off....good gloss, slickness and durability. When things are going well, I knock out two of those a day.

    Guilty. Sealant + wax.

I like to be able to quickly strip it off and try something new if I get an itch. I also like to be able to correct in phases or correct minor issues if they come up. Somehow it's refreshing to me to know I can go strip everything down and start over tomorrow with minimal loss compared to the time and effort that goes into a coating.

I'm pretty sure I change it up enough that I rarely experience the full benefits of even a simple 3 month sealant.

If possible, this weekend, I'm going to re-do my wife's car with Armour Detail Supply Ceramic spray. It has FK1000p on it from last October. It's still there, but on it's way out. It refreshes nicely with Griot's PolyGloss.

    I used 476S until I switched over to FK1000p.
