Re: Meguiar’s Hybrid Paint Coating-Discontinued?
Dang it. Looks like I'll be on the lookout for this.

I'd guess it did not sell in the mass market at the quantities required.

$60 is too much for the retail over-the-counter market. At $60, it also competes against most full coatings that will significantly outclass it in durability.
Still a good product from Meguiar's, slickness and ease of use was excellent, durability was surprisingly good, I'd buy quite a few cans at the $20 closeout price. But force me to pay $60 and I'm going with Mohs Evo or CQUK.

Reading this makes me wonder what I was thinking spending $50+ tax on McKee’s Ceramic Deep Gloss Paint Sealant.

I'm wondering what the shelf life is.

Longer than most other coatings. In one of the Meguiar's videos where they explain the development of HPC, they mention that the use of aerosol was primarily to extend the shelf life. Because, as many of you know, once you crack open a bottle of any coating, the shelf life timer starts ticking because it has been exposed to oxygen. Not exactly the same case when put in an aerosol can.

This 100%!
This product at full retail in Australia was $159.00..............way overpriced for what it is.
For perspective, Gyeon Mohs 30ml kit costs $120 and offers up to 3 years durability compared to 1 year for the Megs. That same comparison plays out for a variety of other ceramic coatings. For the price, it significantly underperformed.
Then you look at Meguiar's target market in big box stores, a market that is not necessarily as enthused about car detailing as Autogeek members. So, the average consumer just sees this product as an expensive bottle wax. (It's not of course a wax, but that's not how a non-enthusiast will see it). So given the choice, the consumer will pick the cheaper bottle of wax on the shelf.
A high price and a lack of awareness ultimately killed it.

You guys are getting beaten to a pulp with prices. Are the Korean and Japanese products cheaper and more available in your neck of the woods?

In many instances, the likes of Gyeon and Carpro are undercutting Meguiar's on like-for-like products.
The local Megs distributor is smoking crack as far as I'm concerned.
That's not me dissing the Meguiar's brand, they have good product, but it's simply not the value for money brand they are for you guys in the US. The same applies to Adam's.
