How to prepare for long road trip?

How would you prepare for a long road trip?

the details: We are going from the Texas South plains up to Yellowstone soon. We’ll be taking my wife’s Tuxedo black Lincoln Navigator. Figure I’ll take extra window cleaner and towels since we’ll take pictures from the car of wildlife.

    Detailing-wise?

I'd have some QD or ONR and a handful of good MF towels on hand for those inevitable bird bombs.
It is no coincidence that man's best friend cannot talk.

I rode from Detroit to Owensboro Kentucky with my singer/guitarist for a gig in his new Jeep Compass. He won't wash it.

He never washed his Journey either.

    I just don't get it..

I would have taken some microfiber towels and Opti-Clean.

What do toy currently have on the car? I'd atleast clean prep and ceramic coat all the windows. I clay, use eraser or isopropyl alcohol and then apply CMX. Helps tremendously in snow/rain.

I'd keep some rinseless/waterless wash or a quick detailer and MF towels. Usually ech2o in a spray bottle as it cleans and adds gloss. Safe for windows, trim etc too.

How to prepare for long road trip?

Personally, as long as the vehicle Starts off detailed when the road trip begins that’s all I ask for. I consider it fully prepared to do what it does at the best of its ability and nothings more satisfying to me than that. I can wash it when we get back home.

I care more about a full tank of gas, proper oil & coolant levels, and all the tires set to proper PSI to ensure maximum comfort and gas mileage.

Bring some microfiber towels for the windshield and side mirrors, Blast off the bugs rather than grinding them into the headlights. At a car wash water only other than that don't over think it too much and enjoy your trip.

Fresh coat of CanCoat on front. If not some kind of topper.

I would take some rinseless and a box full of MF. Glass cleaner too.

Also some interior QD to clean up messes.
