    Clay products - 2023

Yes, that thought came to mind almost immediately after posting earlier, but equally the thought of chucking it also sounds like a reasonable thing to do because it’s pretty gnarly.

But…. being the way that I am I kinda tend to use certain things i.e. microfiber towels, and in this case a claybar waaay beyond their normal lifespan simply because there’s always a time and a place where they’re still useful. I actually just finished using that chunk a few minutes ago. I used it along that edge where the door meets the windows along the side of a vehicle… You know that edge that you risk turning a claybar black due to the rubber that’s always there? Perfect situation to use this little gnarly piece of clay that’s already been to hell & back. Lol.

I use ~1/3 as well but I'm not worried about dropping it. I wear a nitrile glove and the clay sticks to it pretty well.

I dropped a little chunk of my claybar on the driveway today… Picked it up, quick inspection and nothing really happened to it, so back in the patty it went. 5 second rule. Lol

It was a small piece, not much larger than this.

Anyone know if the TRC ultra clay scrubber mars less than traditional clay?

I've seen that implied or directly stated in some places.

I used these in the fall. However, I used them in tight spots only on a pearlescent white paint. I didn't notice any marring with the naked eye.

I typically don't notice any marring on my own vehicles (harder paint on both) when using the fine grade clay options. I use the Nanoskin mitt and DIY Detail clay towel. The scrubbers were largely the same experience, just easier to maneuver.

I'll caveat that the two vehicles I care for are garaged with minimal miles so I've never felt like I needed something stronger than fine grade clay options.

I have two of TRC clay rectangular blocks. Are they supposed to be a bit sticky? I opened them up today and they're very tacky.

I think most of these products are but these might also need to be "broken in" on the windshield?

I have a few of the mitts, sponges, blocks, pads. They are all tacky. Even after I broke them in on windshields and used them a few times. They are always a bit tacky.
