UK 3.0 noob here...quick question on removal

    All,

I'm going to be coating my new M3 today. I've landed on two coats of Uk 3.0 and a topper of Gliss. I've got the car cleaned and corrected. Now it's on to the coating. I'm going hit each panel with some Eraser and then go. I do have a question about removal though. I've seen contradictory things online. Some indicate that UK 3.0 is as simple as applying and removing. Others wait several minutes for it to flash. Would love to here some of your experiences. For what it's worth, it's a pretty hot day in Chicago at about 83 degrees with moderate humidity.

    Thanks in advance.

I had to wait for it to flash, 3-5mins in cool and humid conditions. If i wiped to early i would just push the coating all over the panel, the wipe on/off method did not work well for me with UK.

Gotcha. Pretty easy to tell when it flashes?

Yes it looks like an oil slick on water, it "rainbows". It can be grabby if you leave it too long. But it will come off. If you have a lot of trouble just reapply a small bit to the area.

So is the consensus one coat or two?

2 for greatest longevity. My son's car has 2 layers plus gliss and it's over 2 years now, sits outside 24x7

I've never applied more than one coat of CQUK. Once car with v2.0 made it 3.5 years and another that made it at least 3 years as well.

The question about removal is probably OBE at this point, but my suggestion is to let it flash first and give it a couple minutes. For me, trying to remove too quickly led to smearing, extra buffing, and my removal towels getting saturated quicker. Letting it sit made removal much easier and faster.
