Looking forward to it! Best tip (what worked for me anyway) I can give with Pure is to think about using 3 towels to level, especially if doing whole panels at a time. It came off quite wet for me and having a third towel to do a final buff really helped.

I didn’t this time around but I have done so with the second wipe towel on a previous coating. I threw them straight into a bucket with APC and some towel detergent and then after that washed as normal. Turned out ok to me, but I relegated them to wheels.

Re: Scott HD’s 30 Way Coating Test

Seeing gloss negatives shouldn't scare anyone away, as all of these factors are significant contributors to the immediate difference in gloss numbers in my tests, aside from just the properties of the individual coating:

    • How jeweled the panel is with abrasives before applying
    • Coating dwell/dry time before wiping
    • How aggressive or not the coating was wiped
    • How long it's been curing for
    • How many layers are applied
    • How flat the measuring surface is compared to the meter's base

So all of those variables can possibly affect the GU's of the same exact coating if we significantly change any one of them.

In my test with Mohs EVO by itself and Skin EVO on top of it, I measured a decrease in measurable gloss compared to the bare readings by between 2-3 gloss units after the cure. Pretty par for the course for coatings on my test panel that has been maxed out on polishing beforehand. For anything that is improving the gloss to a significant level, the question is how much further can we take the panel with abrasives in order to minimize or completely erase the potential raw gloss unit advantage that the coating might have. No coating (or wax or sealant for that matter) that I've tested has raised gloss numbers beyond the polishing step, even after a full cure. Doesn't mean they aren't still contributing to a more beneficial gloss look compared to bare paint.

So I would not weigh GU measurements as a significant contributor to my coating decision.

You don’t remember this guy? He was the one who outed Pan for asking for promotional fee from Updog

Quit pretty much watching you tubers for reviews although I still do watch some just to learn about new products. I like that he doesn’t “torture” test but his tests has it’s own set of flaws…. Like pretty much all you toober’s tests

He alway has a nice assortment that he tests.

Re: Scott HD’s 30 Way Coating Test

I started watching Scott on YT recently.

I really like the way he goes into the tests (not just detail products, either) with no preconceived notions or expectations.
It is no coincidence that man's best friend cannot talk.

Re: Scott HD’s 30 Way Coating Test

I like his methods to the tests...are they 100% accurate.....no
What I do like is everyone is on the same playing field....the products are subject to the exact same conditions.(per hood test)

Most youtubers will do a torture test 2 minutes after a product is applied and call that a test...
20 washes all at one time is NO WAY to test a product I'm sorry!

He seems very honest to me and tells it like it is...

I find them interesting. When I watch them it's just results,... boom you're done.

Speaking of durability, has anyone ever seen a pro coating rated for 5+ years show good hydrophobics during the last year or so? It seems most coatings fail around the 2-3 year mark and I rarely see anyone ever post a video of a coating with great hydrophobics that is 5 or more years old. Just curious.

I have yet to see anything last over 2 years( without a cleanse or topper)...I think it could be from lack of testing...
